Audition Information

Everything you Need to Know about the Audition Process!!

Open Auditions:

2025 A Night at the Copa

**This information should be considered broad and general audition information for auditions with ArtsView Children’s Theatre. Specific audition information and details will be included on the information page for each individual show.**

FOR NON-MUSICAL AUDITIONS: Please come to auditions prepared to participate in any exercises the Director may have prepared. This is not specific to, but may include: prepared monologues, improv games, theatrical warm ups, displays of individual talents, impersonations, cold reads from the script, etc. Audition sides will be provided at the audition itself for cold reads. *If a monologue is requested by the Director for a specific audition, that information will be clearly stated in the details regarding the specific show.*

FOR MUSICAL AUDITIONS: Please come to auditions prepared to sing 30 seconds to 1 minute of a song in the style of the show. (Songs from the show are welcome, but not required.) Please bring an instrumental track WITH NO VOICES of your prepared song with you. Your track can be played on a CD or off your phone/ipad/ipod. We will supply a speaker with a connector for your phone. You may also accompany yourself with a handheld instrument (guitar, ukulele, etc). There will not be accompaniment provided through ArtsView. During the audition process, you will also interact with those who are in your audition group. Ages may range from 10 – adult.

FOR ALL AUDITIONS: Please come in clothes that allow freedom of movement while allowing you to remain appropriately covered. Out of respect for the wide age range and for your safety, crop tops, tube tops, short shorts or skirts, high heels, or open toed shoes are strongly discouraged. Hair should be styled so that it remains out of your face during the audition process.

  1. Prior Main Stage Production experience is not necessary to  audition! We welcome all auditioners in the age range specified in the individual show audition information.

  2. Arrive 10-15 minutes before your auditions begin, and plan to stay the entire time. Parents, please come in so you can complete (or double check) and sign the audition information sheet if your child is not 18.

  3. Sign in and have your picture taken (if needed).

  4. Go over Audition Information Sheets (hard copies available at your audition) to make sure you have marked all conflicts. Rehearsal and Performance Dates are listed in the specific audition information and details for each individual show.

  5.  Attach photo & turn in paperwork. Parents, please double check and ensure all known conflicts are listed on the audition paperwork.

  6. Auditions are closed. This means that only actors are allowed in the audition room. There is a waiting area for parents.

  7. Auditions will include reading from the script and character movement. Be willing to “try” any direction the audition panel may give you.

  8. Auditions at ArtsView Children’s Theatre are held in a group format. You will be auditioning with multiple other auditioners who may be older or younger than you.

  9. Please contact the theatre if you need to make alternate arrangements for your audition. These arrangements are decided upon in a case by case basis and may include the option of a video audition, etc. The theatre can be reached by calling 903-236-7535 or emailing artsview@artsviewact.com

  10. If Call Backs are needed, a Call Back List will be posted on our door, our website, and our Facebook and Instagram pages. More information will be given to each audition group at their audition regarding this process.

Call Backs are determined on a show by show basis, and may not be needed for every show.

Call Backs will be at ArtsView Children’s Theatre.

For shows that do include a Call Back:

  1. If you are “called back,” it is simply because the director needs to see you again before casting. If requested to attend Callbacks, please return to ArtsView for the scheduled call back time listed above. You are encouraged to arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to ensure we can begin promptly. Participation in Callbacks does not guarantee a role in the production. Likewise, not being called back does not mean you have not been cast. It simply means we did not need to see you again before deciding.

  2. Dress requirements are the same as the audition.

  3. Please plan to stay the entire time. Check in at the front desk. You will receive a name tag to be worn on your RIGHT SHOULDER.

  4. Callbacks are closed, therefore, parents/friends/family members will not be permitted in the theater unless there is an emergency.

  5. There will be a short discussion regarding the agenda for call backs.

  6. Actors will participate in vocal and physical warm-ups as a group.

  7. You will read excerpts from the script with other actors and/or by yourself. Be prepared to read for all parts.

The Cast List will be posted on the front door at ArtsView, on Facebook, and on our website once the show is cast.

All rehearsals will be held at ArtsView Children’s Theatre.

Rehearsal information is listed in the information and details provided for each specific show.

All performances will be held at ArtsView Children’s Theatre and are ticketed performances. Tickets must be purchased in advance online or by calling the office. Please note, there may not be door sales for this show.
